Republicans blocking necessary legislation

It is amazing how the platforms and philosophies of the national Republican Party differ so vastly from the Democratic Party. It's as if the Republicans come from a different planet. For once, can't they work for the benefit of all the people?
The issue now is health care. Most Republicans feel nothing is wrong with the way it is. Some people say, "If it's not broken, why fix it?"
It's pathetic that so many people are ill-informed. Perhaps those who don't want change are the 150 million who are insured through their employer and have good benefits. They apparently don't know what the real world is like or they don't care.
What about the other 150 million? What about those who are self-employed and have to foot the bill themselves; those who are employed by small companies that can't afford to provide them with coverage; those who are unemployed; and those who are destitute? What about the seniors who are unable to cover costs?
In 1935, under Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Republicans were against Social Security. In 1965, under Democrat Lyndon Johnson, the Republicans were against Medicare. Imagine if we didn't have these programs today.
Once again, history repeats itself. The Republicans are against yet another landmark bill that will benefit America's citizens. Even if the health care reform bill ever passes, it is far from what we really need. Medicare from birth to death is what this country needs.
